25,000 Trade Union Members Protest in Plaza de Mayo

Today an estimated 25,000 trade union members gathered in Buenos Aires’ Plaza de Mayo for a protest organized by the Confederación General del Trabajo’s leader Hugo Moyano. Workers, particularly “camioneros,” or, bus drivers, traveled from all over Argentina to support Moyano’s rally against the government that he blamed for “keeping workers’ money.” Followed by explosions of music and firecrackers, hundreds of flags and balloons striking the sky, clouds of smoke from people cooking hotdogs and burgers, thousands of people crammed into the historic plaza to urge the government to hear their demands for workers’ rights, including raising the income tax threshold.
