Nueces Masjid

Located in UT’s West Campus is the Nueces Mosque, which has kindly opened its doors to me in helping me understand more about Islam. The community is mostly comprised of young college students and I have really enjoyed getting to know them and I hope to continue working with them to spread awareness and understanding about their culture and their daily lives as students in Austin. Here are some pictures from an interfaith barbeque where they invited people from the community to the mosque as a way to open dialogue about Islam, a religion that is arguably misunderstood and stereotyped by today’s media. I look forward to learning more and making new friendships.
