Mercado de Pulgas

Since living in Austin, I have really enjoyed visiting the markets that spring up around Austin on the weekend that sell everything from mangoes and elote (my favorite) to dishwashers and parakeets. Despite fat, gray clouds of rain, I went to the market off of highway 290 this Sunday with some friends who were visiting Austin. I always love going to the market because I love exploring the layers of quiet and loud moments, watching families stroll the aisles together, and of course, perusing the brightly colored trinkets for sale. Ending the visit with fresh elote, my favorite, was one of the highlights. After taking pictures, of course.
